Basic general principles
1. ANY symptom in the body, however slight or debilitating, whether acute, chronic, or spasmodic, is due to dehydration in the relevant area(s) of the body.
2. This dehydration inevitably leads to build-up of waste products in the body. This backlog of toxic matter is due to lack of sufficient fluid movement to "wash them around" and/or lack of efficient body cleansing by the various organs of elimination - skin, colon, liver, kidneys, lungs - the underlying inefficiency being due to lack of water!
3. As the toxic waste builds up and fluid movement decreases, the movement of minerals, both around the body and across the cell walls, becomes impaired. This, in turn, leads to mineral imbalances; too many of some and not enough of others, in various places in the body. These imbalances cannot necessarily be corrected by the taking of supplements, because it is the CONDITION of the BODY itself that is perpetuating the problem.
4. There are such things as mineral deficiencies, where the food we eat does not contain all of the minerals we need in the correct proportions. These deficiencies can be addressed with supplementation, but this approach can only be successful if the supplements taken can be absorbed and utilised efficiently by the body. This will not happen without sufficient fluid movement within the body.
5. The body cannot work against itself. It is constantly working towards the best possible solution to any problem - that is the solution that leads to the least disruption of its long-term survival. The most pressing difficulty that it has to deal with is the presence of excess waste products building up inside itself because of dehydration.
Behaviour of toxic waste
1. Toxins always accumulate from the feet up and from the outside in. The progress of disease can therefore be both identified, and predicted, from the person's own health history and the family tree. We cannot inherit a cleaner body than our mother had at the time of our conception, because our biochemistry is so inextricably mixed with hers. By the age of 40 years, most of our health pattern is the result of what WE have added to this picture. It is never too late to begin the reversal of the degeneration trend!
2. Any symptom in the body is a cry for help, to aid cleansing and speed elimination. If we suppress a symptom, rather than providing what the body needs to promote detoxification, the condition may be temporarily alleviated. However, the waste products causing the symptom will be pushed deeper into the body, and produce a situation that is more harmful to the body's survival.
3. If the symptom is handled by encouraging cleansing, and thus facilitating the problem to run its natural course, the body will, at the end of it, have moved a step towards increased survival. A typical example of this would be childhood illnesses, which the body uses, given the chance, to flush out inherited toxins.
4. If the body is exhibiting a symptom, there are many techniques that can be used to encourage safe cleansing and elimination. What it does NOT need, at these times, are problems such as an over abundance of supplements, avoidable pollution or inappropriate types of food - see under separate heading - "Techniques to aid Recovery from Symptoms".
5. Suppression of symptoms can be triggered in many ways. The most obvious is the use of drugs, all of which dry out the body rather than encouraging cleansing. However, even natural therapies, such as Homeopathy, Nutritional Therapy and Acupuncture - to name but a few - can be used to suppress rather than cleanse.
6. Our body also sends us messages to suppress symptoms, when it feels that toxic build-up is getting too uncomfortable. During the time that the body is using energy to digest food, cleansing at cellular level is, of necessity, slowed, or halted. As the digestive processes approach completion, and the body moves towards a "fasting" period, digestion requires less energy. The energy that becomes available is then directed towards cellular cleansing.
7. If waste products are released from the cells faster than their elimination can be performed, the body detects their build-up in the fluids outside the cell. The body can detect progress towards unpleasant symptoms and at some point will turn on hunger pangs so as to encourage the intake of food, which will switch off the "fast".
8. Depending how the toxic levels are, compared with elimination capabilities in the body, "wanting to eat" can be at any level from almost continuous to not wanting to eat at all, so that cleansing is not inhibited - "grazing" to "fasting"!
9. If it cannot cope with the toxins that have built up, at some point it will be forced to dilute them within the body. It will do this by hanging on to extra water, either temporarily or permanently. This we call "oedema" and drinking less water will aggravate such a situation. The fatter you are, the more dehydrated you are and, at some point, calories will have little to do with weight variations and be much more to do moistening and elimination.
10. The movement of toxins around the body is strongly affected by the pull of the moon on the sodium in the body. Sodium is pulled out of the cells by the moon's pull, and along with it comes calcium and waste products. The most influential times in this respect are during the night, when we are sleeping - so that the body has enough energy to cleanse - and during the day from 13.30 to 15.30, GMT. Have you ever experienced a sleepiness during the early afternoon? This is the moon's pull taking sodium out of the cells faster than it can be transported to the kidneys and/or eliminated by them. This effect will be aggravated by a heavy meal, because the digestion of the meal takes precedence over the available energy in the body, and therefore can deprive the kidneys of energy. However, with some people it happens even on an empty stomach! (More information on the moon's influence under another heading)
11. As the body catches up with cleansing backlog, symptoms will clear from the inside out and from the head down. Any symptom that has been suppressed in the past, by whatever method, will appear again, as it surfaces to be dealt with, so do your best to refrain from suppressing it again! Drink extra water, and use the recovery techniques instead, wherever possible. Allow the body to rest so that it can cleanse and move through to an improved state as quickly as possible. Count it as one more problem that has been dealt with!
12. The body can also have a healing crisis, with cold or flu-like symptoms. Such healing opportunities often follow a spell of increased energy or well-being. The symptoms can be debilitating, but the same applies as in point 11. If such a healing opportunity is allowed to run its course, there can be an increase in overall well being and energy that is quite remark-able! Not to mention the feeling of satisfaction that you have enabled the body to do what it is designed to do and take a step towards survival!
